The chocolates, which featured the faces of the 8 key members of the Star Sports team, were sent to 3500 clients who had not placed a bet for the last 6 months. Within 3 weeks, 14% of them had placed a bet, making it Star Sports busiest December ever.

Event: Friday 11th (Evening) and Saturday 12th May 2012

Get ready to race, rattle ‘n’ roll at Ascot this spring as you’re invited to rock around the racecourse with two 1950s inspired racedays.

The racecourse’s only evening meeting will take place on Friday 11th May where the retro atmosphere will be electric with 1950s dress welcome. The Grandstand will be transformed into a chic American diner set to a backdrop of classic Cadillacs, ice cream sundaes and roller-girls who will be giving away free Buddy Holly glasses. Toe tapping jive music will play live on the Bandstand after racing with ‘guys and dolls’ on hand to show you how it’s done.

The theme will continue through to Saturday where the highlight of the afternoon will be The Betfred Victoria Cup, a seven furlong sprint. This race usually has bearing on the Royal Meeting as it is often used as the launch pad to the Royal Hunt Cup (held on Wednesday 20th June). Also on this Flat racing card is the Listed John Doyle Buckhounds Stakes and the Bovis Homes Fillies Handicap Stakes.

After racing get to your feet around the bandstand as Tom Rust croon’s the night away.

Karen Smith, PR Manager at Ascot, said:

“We’re really excited about this new addition to our already extensive programme of raceday events. The ‘50s theme will bring lots of colour and fun and the music should get everybody dancing in between the races! The weekend will be ideal for anyone looking for something different to do with family and friends.”
This is racing with a twist, the perfect excuse to get together with friends, family or colleagues.

Tickets start from just £18 per person and can be purchased at www.ascot.co.uk or by calling 0844 346 3000. Generous group and advance discounts apply.

With 94 days to go until the start of the Olympics, Usain Bolt has said he can “amaze” the world by running the 100m in 9.4 seconds, but spread betting company Sporting Index are betting against him.

The firm predict the winning 100m final time will be 9.73 seconds and punters can bet higher or lower on that prediction. The current world record of 9.58s was set by Bolt at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin and the second-fastest time was the Jamaican’s Olympics victory in Beijing in 2008 when he clocked 9.69s.

On only four occasions has anyone gone under 9.72s and the Sporting Index traders don’t expect any of the field in London to join that elite band. No one has broken that barrier in the past two seasons.

Since setting his world record time in Berlin, Bolt’s season’s best in 2010 was 9.82s and 9.76s in 2011. He was disqualified after a false start in the 100m final at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu before seeing compatriot Yohan Blake, Jamaica’s latest sprint sensation, take his World crown with a time of 9.82s.

“The world record has come a long way since Jim Hines broke the 10-second barrier at the 1968 Olympics,” said Wayne Lincoln, Sporting Index trading spokesman. “Usain Bolt is an incredible athlete and, as he says himself, a ‘living legend’, but we can’t see him or anyone else getting anywhere near his 2009 mark. We are anticipating a relatively speaking more pedestrian time this year!”
Men’s 100m Final Winning Time 9.73 seconds

As with all spread bets you can bet higher or lower on the prediction.

Jessie J is leading the way as the 13/8 hot favourite with Boylesports to be crowned the winning judge on hit TV show The Voice. Black Eyed Peas star Will.I.Am can be backed at 5/2, whilst Welsh crooner Tom Jones has been installed at 11/4 to come out on top.

Irish heart-throb Danny O’Donoghue has been supported by punters to cause a female frenzy in the UK this weekend when he takes his seat as a judge on the show. The Script frontman has been subject to a lot of Irish support in the last week and the firm have cut his odds from 4/1 into 7/2 to mentor the winning act.

“Jessie J has made a brilliant start to her career in the music industry and whichever group is lucky enough to have her as a mentor will be able to get some pearls of wisdom from the star.” commented Nicola McGeady, Boylesports PR Spokesperson.

England head to Paris for their penultimate 2012 Six Nations clash and Boylesports offer 11/2 that Stuart Lancaster’s troops win their remaining two matches. They narrowly lost out to Wales at Twickenham and it’s 11/8 that the side lose their next two internationals.

Despite a spirited performance against the Welsh, England failed to score a try and a repeat in the Stade de France can be backed at 7/4. Boylesports are offering 4/5 that Les Bleus outscore England in the try department, while it’s 5/2 for the reverse.

NMi, the independent expert for testing, certifying and training in gaming, has been formally approved to cover testing of gaming in Denmark following an extension of its ISO17025 accreditation.

NMi becomes the first and only European-based lab to achieve the accreditation and one of the very few suppliers that can offer turnkey compliance within the newly regulated territory, covering all aspects of testing from software to operations either at their lab or on-site. This latest endorsement comes after NMI’s recent approvals to test in Spain and Quebec as well as their long standing presence in traditional jurisdictions such as Alderney, United Kingdom and Malta.

To gain an extension to its existing ISO17025 accreditation, NMi was required to prove to UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) that it could meet a number of stringent qualifications with respect to testing gaming software and the operators that use that specific software. As qualified testers and auditors in the jurisdiction, NMi is permitted to conduct the full scope of requirements in Denmark including quarterly vulnerability scans and annual penetration tests. UKAS commented that one of the laboratory’s main strengths is the competent and experienced staff.

Qualifications specifically required by the Danish Gambling Authority include a masters level degree in mathematics, IT security professional qualifications and long term experience delivering compliance testing and auditing services to the gambling industry.

Andrew Rosewarne, Director, NMi UK, comments:
“30 years experience of gaming in Europe is what drives NMi to continue its momentum in gaining accreditation for online testing in the newly regulated jurisdictions such as Spain and Denmark.”

Julian Borg-Barthet, Business Development Manager, NMi UK, comments:
“Our customers want to work with a testing partner that has the ability to satisfy testing requirements in every jurisdiction in which they are active. This accreditation significantly strengthens our position in Europe and furthers our capacity to cater to our customers’ specific needs.”

NMi’s UKAS accreditation can be found on the UKAS website: http://ukas.org/testing/schedules/Actual/4403Testing%20Multiple.pdf
